Founded in 1970, James Cook University’s main campuses are in Townsville, Cairns and Brisbane.
The university has over 14,000 students, of which 1500 international students come from 150 countries. Due to its natural location, the university offers programs such as coral reef ecology, marine biology, earth sciences, rainforest science and Aboriginal and Australian Studies.
The university takes its name from the famous 18th century English explorer Captain James Cook.

James Cook University Singapore has a large China student population.
The campus would appeal to students who like a quiet environment. The Ang Mo Kio MRT station is a short bus ride away and there is a food centre and petrol kiosk next to the campus.
