MM Lee Kuan Yew mentioned at a public event that he sent his 3 children : Prime Minister BG Lee Hsien Loong, former SingTel CEO BG Lee Hsien Yang and Dr Lee Wei Ling to Nanyang Primary School. And that five out of his seven grandchildren also went to Nanyang Primary School.
He likes the school's values and way of teaching young kids.

Obviously, this school and other local schools were not considered adequately equipped to help children with special needs since it was reported that his grandchild with dyslexia went to the Singapore American School instead.

In the end, it is the school that can bring out the best in a child who has difficulties that deserves the most praise. Recently, the Straits Times featured a girl who fared poorly during all her years in her primary school and who had her life turned around in a short space of time when she attended Northlight (I hope I got the name of the school right). It is easy for a school to do well when it accepts only the top students. We should focus instead on, and give due recognition to, schools that make the most difference in the lives of students.

Yes, I have a friend who did not do well in school in our system.
But eventually he went to US to study and he came back with a PhD from a top university there.
He said he likes the US education system better.

Nanyang Primary School is a famous primary school but choose a school that is appropriate for your child.
If you look at Raffles Institution or Raffles Girls' School, most students are from the neighbourhood primary schools.
Utltimately in life, the primary school you attend does not matter, it is the name of the university that will be on your resume / CV.
